If working with dogs has taught us anything, it’s If working with dogs has taught us anything, it’s that you shouldn’t just sit and wait for the perfect day. Live every day like it’s the best day of your life. There’s always something to wag your tail about. šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ¾šŸ©ŗ
Large animal medicine is 10% medicine, 20% driving Large animal medicine is 10% medicine, 20% driving down roads Google Maps has never heard of, 40% fighting for your life, and 30% ā€œwell, that escalated quickly.ā€ (With a sprinkle of ā€œthat wasn’t supposed to happenā€)
But hey, at least we don’t have to sit in an office.
Or wear clean clothes…
This week was the kind of week that reminds you th This week was the kind of week that reminds you that vet medicine isn’t always pretty.
But somewhere between all of it, we were reminded of something important.
Some places become home because of who’s in them. That the best part of this place has never been the building.
It’s the people who show up every day, carrying each other through the hard stuff, celebrating the wins, crying through the losses, and somehow finding reasons to laugh when the wheels are pretty much falling off.

We don’t always get easy weeks, but we do get each other. And after a week like this, maybe the real privilege isn’t just the work we get to do. Maybe the real privilege is also who we get to do it with.

It takes us far too long to realise that purpose i It takes us far too long to realise that purpose isn’t a poster on the wall or a list of values you read once and forget about by Friday.

To us, purpose looks different every day. It might be the patient that finally eats after days of not touching their food, the wound that looks a little better than it did yesterday, that message you get from an owner thanking you for sitting with them quietly on one of the hardest days of their life.
It's small. Sometimes so small, no one else would even notice. And some weeks, it doesn’t feel like anything at all.

But purpose isn’t about big moments. It’s about finishing the day knowing that something you did mattered. Even if it was just one patient or one person, and even if no one else saw it.

That’s the work. And that's why we keep showing up. For the little bits of magic that are actually everywhere if you just look hard enough.
Can we all just take a moment to process the fact Can we all just take a moment to process the fact that we’re already almost halfway through 2026? Because it feels like May lasted about three business days.

In the middle of it all, our large animal vets travelled hundreds of kilometres, finally getting their boots on the ground with FMD vaccinations, @hillspetfoodsa blessed us with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the @sanparksknp anti-poaching dogs, and we somehow squeezed in all the usual clinic chaos in between.

Here’s a glimpse of the photos in our camera roll that remind us why we have so much to be thankful for. Thanks for being part of the journey with us. šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ‡æšŸ‡¦šŸ©ŗšŸŒ¾
